Key team members
Peter Todd
Peter set up Portus Retail in 2016 with the stated aim of creating places that perform as retail destinations for shoppers and shopping environments that are adaptable to retailers in a rapidly changing market. Peter’s vast experience and in-depth understanding of the market brings huge benefits to capital partners wishing to invest in retail property across Europe.

Between 2007 and 2015 Peter was Executive Director of Resolution Property where he was responsible for the overall strategy of the company’s continental European investment program, including the sourcing and acquisition of new investment opportunities, identification of suitable partners, structuring of joint ventures and the oversight of asset business plans and asset disposals.

Prior to joining Resolution Property, Peter was Managing Director and head of the international portfolio for The Mills Corporation, a REIT listed on the NYSE. Here he was responsible for the acquisition and management of the business’ European shopping centres.

Peter also has many years’ experience of leasing, development and asset management consultancy having worked for both DTZ and Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).

In 2015, Peter was appointed to the European Advisory Board of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Stuart Lang
Stuart has an extensive track record of adding value to retail property over his 25 years working in continental Europe, the UK and Australia. He has a wealth of experience working with investors and retailers which has given him a deep understanding of the sector and the factors which drive the performance of retail property investments.

From 2006 to 2018 Stuart was an Executive Director and Head of Asset Management at retail specialist Balmain Asset Management where he was responsible for overseeing the creation and implementation of asset business plans for Balmain’s investment partners. Stuart also played an active role in the acquisition and disposal of investments and developed many of the reporting systems and monitoring tools used by Balmain’s asset management and property management businesses.

Stuart’s career started with Jones Lang Wootton in Sydney where, as part of the shopping centre division, he managed and leased several suburban shopping centres whilst also taking another centre through a substantial redevelopment. In 1998, Stuart moved to London with JLW (now JLL) where he worked in the retail management, retail consulting and corporate consulting teams. In the latter role he advised both retail investors and retailers on subjects ranging from asset strategies to network optimisation.

Stuart graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia with a Bachelor of Economics and subsequently completed a Graduate Diploma in Land Economy from the University of Western Sydney.
Craig Hamilton
Financial & Commercial
Prior to joining Portus Retail, Craig was a Partner at Resolution Property, responsible for corporate acquisitions, corporate disposals, deal structuring, financing, tax planning and the financial management of complex refurbishment / development projects.

Prior to that he was a Director at Accenture in the financial services practice initially as Operations Director responsible for delivery of BPO services to clients throughout Europe, Middle East and South America, latterly as Director, Business Development. His clients being global investment banks. Craig was previously Finance Director for Serco plc’s outsourcing business, setting up Serco’s businesses in Hong Kong & Australia and established its property services business. Craig trained as an accountant with GEC plc
Gabriel Olearnik
General Counsel
Gabriel has a strong track record of deal execution and has advised on EUR 5.9 billion of European real estate deals recently, including the largest European real estate deal in 2016. He has a particular expertise in resolving difficult issues which can arise during both deal execution and the lifespan of an asset. Gabriel is also experienced in dispute resolution, crisis management and regulatory issues.

Gabriel was previously General Counsel of a major real estate fund. He holds a B.A. from University College London and an LLM from King’s College London. Gabriel has also received the Principal’s Award from King’s College, the highest distinction granted by that university.
Tina Salven
Asset & Investment Manager
Tina became a member of the Portus Retail (Netherlands) B.V. team as Asset & Investment Manager in September 2017.
Prior to joining Portus Retail, Tina was a Senior Analyst at Atrium European Real Estate based in Amsterdam for 4 years. As part of the M&A team, she participated in transactions of close to €1B across Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia and Hungary, with responsibilities spanning deal analysis, valuation, transaction management, due diligence and negotiation. She spent 7 years at Situs Nordic Services ApS (prev. HSH Nordbank AG) in Copenhagen in the commercial real estate department, mainly with restructuring/work out of non-performing loans across the Nordics and the Baltics. Tina holds a master degree in Real Estate Economics from Aalto University in Finland and a post-master degree in Strategic Urban Planning from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in Denmark.
